Why I made Chippy

In my words Draft

I created Chippy because I have audio processing issues, so I made a shortcut on my computer so that any text I select, I can hear. I have used the Mac's text to speech for probably ten years. It helped me, but it felt incredibly robotic and at times cryptic, and I struggled for the better part of my life to keep up.

After I created the first version of Chippy, I noticed something: I could not stop using it. I used it for six months before I decided to productize it. Chippy is how I fundamentally rewrote my own software for life and started putting myself on a path of self-enablement. Once I got Chippy working with speech synthesis, I used it to replace dictation on my computer, and then I used it to create a video dashboard, so that every sight or sound I take in, I have the ability to process and slow down, and not only understand the world around me but understand myself.

Chippy has been life-changing for me because it is how I learned to help myself. The reason I decided to productize it is that I realized it was the most important thing I could work on, and that if I could help anyone the way I have helped myself, it would be worth something to someone. So please try Chippy. I have gone out of my way to make sure it is free and that there are weekly credits available. Tell me what you think. Tell your friends. Give feedback.
